Shoorvir Pasaltha Khuangchera was born in 1810 in the Lushai Hills region, present-day Mizoram. He emerged as a formidable warrior-leader at a time when British forces were attempting to extend control over tribal territories in Northeast India. His reputation for courage and strategic skill made him a central figure in local resistance.
During multiple British expeditions into the region, Khuangchera led armed confrontations to defend Mizo lands and communities. He relied on traditional warfare techniques and deep knowledge of the terrain to counter better-equipped colonial forces, becoming a symbol of defiance among the Mizo people.
