Biography:
Birsa Munda was born in 1875 in Ulihatu, Jharkhand, into a Munda tribal family. Growing up, he witnessed the exploitation of tribal people by British authorities and landlords, which inspired him to fight for the rights and welfare of his community.
In the late 1890s, Birsa became the leader of the Ulgulan movement, mobilizing thousands of tribal people to challenge British rule and oppressive local authorities. He emphasized the protection of tribal land and forests and encouraged cultural and religious revival among the Mundas.
Birsa Munda was eventually captured by the British and died in custody in 1900 at a young age. Despite his short life, his leadership, courage, and vision made him a revered regional hero and a symbol of tribal resistance in India.
