Biography:

Bhagat Singh was born on 28 September 1907 in Banga, Punjab, into a family with a strong patriotic tradition. He was deeply influenced by the stories of earlier freedom fighters and developed a firm belief in fighting British colonialism through revolutionary means. His youth was marked by intense study of political theory, socialist literature, and nationalist ideals.

In 1928, Singh and his associates carried out the killing of British police officer J.P. Saunders to avenge the death of Lala Lajpat Rai. He later threw non-lethal bombs in the Central Legislative Assembly in Delhi to protest repressive laws, deliberately ensuring no one was killed. Singh was arrested and used his trial to promote revolutionary ideas and inspire youth to join the struggle for freedom.

While in jail, Bhagat Singh went on a hunger strike demanding better treatment for political prisoners, gaining nationwide attention. He was executed on 23 March 1931 at the age of 23, becoming a martyr. His courage, intellect, and uncompromising stance against colonial rule made him an enduring symbol of India’s fight for independence.
